KLOSTERS CONFIRMED AS HOST OF THE 2027 WORLD MASTERS MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHAMPIONSHIPS
13/01/2026
The World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) is pleased to announce that Klosters has been officially confirmed as the host venue for the 2027 World Masters Mountain Running Championships (WMMRC), to be held from 10 to 12 June 2027 in the Swiss Alps.

A JOURNEY BUILT ON LEGACY: FROM CANFRANC TO KLOSTERS
The appointment of Klosters continues a strong and symbolic progression of recent and upcoming World Masters Mountain Running Championships hosts. Following the memorable championships in Canfranc, the event moves to Meduno, before heading in 2026 to Janské Lázně, in the heart of the Krkonoše mountains.
This evolving European pathway now culminates in Klosters in 2027, reinforcing continuity, tradition, and excellence within the Masters mountain running community.

A PROVEN ALPINE VENUE
Located in the canton of Graubünden and closely connected to Davos, Klosters offers an exceptional alpine setting combined with long-standing expertise in hosting international sporting events. The championships will be centred around Arena Klosters, a modern event complex with infrastructure for up to 2,000 people, which will host all ceremonies, technical meetings, awards presentations, and the final banquet.
Start and finish areas for all races will be located within the Arena Klosters complex, with the Uphill race starting at the bottom station of the Madrisa gondola, ensuring compact logistics and excellent spectator access.
Klosters provide more than 500 km of marked trails, with Klosters and Davos region having around 700 km, outstanding public transport connectivity, and accommodation capacity of approximately 19,000 guest beds, with around 70% of hotels located within walking distance of the venue.
The Local Organising Committee for the WMMRC 2027 is the same experienced team that annually delivers the Madrisa Trail Klosters, bringing proven expertise in mountain and trail running event organisation to the championships.
“Klosters is honored and proud to host the World Masters Mountain Running Championships in June 2027,” said Dominik Heeb, Head of Tourism Klosters. “Our community has a long tradition of welcoming major masters events, and we are excited to build on that experience to deliver an exceptional championship for athletes from all around the world.”

By awarding the 2027 World Masters Mountain Running Championships to Klosters, WMRA reinforces its commitment to high-quality venues, experienced organisers, and destinations that truly embody the spirit of mountain running.
Klosters 2027 will not only crown world champions—it will further elevate the global mountain running community, celebrating performance, resilience, friendship, and a shared passion for the mountains.

The 2027 World Masters Mountain Running Championships will feature three classic disciplines, designed in close collaboration with WMRA and subject to final confirmation:

All courses have been developed using official Swiss topographic data and will be finalised in cooperation with WMRA to ensure fairness, safety, and sporting integrity.

STRENGTHENING THE GLOBAL MASTERS COMMUNITY
Beyond competition, the 2027 WMMRC in Klosters will serve as a celebration of lifelong participation in mountain running. The event is designed to foster community, international exchange, and shared values across generations of athletes.
With a strong focus on sustainability, the championships will prioritise public transport, local products, minimal waste, and the use of existing infrastructure, ensuring minimal environmental impact while maximising the athlete and spectator experience.
