DONOVALY READY TO WELCOME THE WORLD’S BEST YOUTH MOUNTAIN RUNNERS
The picturesque mountain village of Donovaly is set to become the global stage for youth mountain running this weekend as it hosts the 18th International U18 Mountain Running Cup, taking place from 13–14 June 2025. Organized by the World Mountain Running Association (WMRA) and the Slovak Athletic Federation, this year’s edition will see a record-breaking 120 athletes (64 boys and 56 girls) from 18 countries competing on the challenging trails of central Slovakia.
The weather forecast promises excellent racing conditions, with sunny skies and temperatures ranging between 19°C and 23°C, and a minimum of 10°C in the mornings—ideal for both athletes and spectators.

A Truly International Field
Among the 18 national teams confirmed, several have fielded full squads of 4 boys and 4 girls, including Italy, England, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, France, Switzerland, USA, Northern Ireland, and Wales. Also participating are delegations from Mexico and Lithuania, with some partial teams. A total of 120 athletes will take on the 5.8 km course, which climbs 513 meters through forests and meadows to the summit of Nová Hoľa.
The race starts from Park Snow Donovaly, a 15-minute walk from the accommodation base. From there, athletes will ascend trails through alpine meadows and forests before reaching the summit finish via the Nová Hoľa cable car area. Luggage will be transported for participants, and cable cars or minibuses will bring runners back post-race.
