Marcel MATANIN 🇸🇰
I was born in 1973 in Slovakia and I have been living here since.
My first experience with competitive running started when I was 14 and it became my passion ever since. Initially, I started in track and field, and later moved to road, cross country, and mountain running. Long distance became my passion, and in 2004 I took part in the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
I have completed the Abbott World Marathon Majors (New York, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, Tokyo) — and still counting.
After finishing my professional running career, I committed my time to organising many sports events, such as:
-
Sports Director of Bratislava ÄŒSOB Marathon (for 6 years)
-
Race Director of the European Cross Country Championships 2017 (Å amorÃn, Slovakia)
-
Race Director of the European Throwing Cup 2018 (Å amorÃn, Slovakia)
-
Challenge Å amorÃn, Slovakia – Director for the running course (for the past 7 years)
-
and for the last 4 years, WMRA Technical Delegate for the U18 and World Masters Championships
Currently, I work closely with the Slovak Athletic Federation as a Technical Delegate and Referee in various running competitions.
