3rd WMRA International Youth Challenge June 22nd Susa (ITA)

10 nations took part to the 9th Memorial Race for Marco Germanetto, also the 3rd WMRA International Youth Challenge. Five different nations stepped on to the podium,
In the girls race – 3300 total meters, 180m difference in height – Russia came first thanks to Polina Avdeeva (13’59”) followed by the English Annika Jarman (who came second in a time of 14’21”) and Emma Flanagan, , (third in 14’26”). Fourth was the Scottish Deborah Stokoe (14’34”) and fifth the Italian Letizia Titon (14’41”)In the girls national team results the first nation was England (12 points), the second Italy (30 points), the third Wales (41 points) followed by Slovenia, Ireland, Russia, Scotland and Germany.
POLINA AVDEEVA (RUS) 1ST ANNIKA JARMAN (ENG) 2ND In the boys race – 4 laps, 4900 total meters, 260m difference in height – Andrey Rusakov (RUS) came first (17’44”) followed by three Italians: Paolo Ruatti (who came second in a time of 18’12”), Federico Viviani, (third in 18’25”), and Andrea Debiasi, (fourth in 18’31”). The Russian Andrej Zvokov came fifth.
In the boys national team results the first nation was Italy (9 points), the second, Russia (39 points) and the third Scotland (40 points) followed by Ireland, Slovenia, Wales, Northern Ireland, England and France.

The competitions also includeddedicated younger runners attracting more than 300 athletes in memory of Marco Germanetto, the seven-times Italian junior champion (not only in mountain running) who died in a car accident in September 1999.
