WORLD MOUNTAIN RUNNING ASSOCIATION
WMRA COUNCIL MEMBER

Stéphane SCALVO 🇫🇷

I was born in 1971. Since my teenage years, I’ve been running in an athletics club in the south of France. I mainly ran road races and 10K races. Later, I moved to half-marathons and marathons.

In 2011, I moved to Chamonix. I entered the trail running world by joining the UTMB race organization. The first year, I was in charge of the race commissioners, then my role expanded to become Race Director for this event for 10 years.

I was then recruited as Race Director in Val d’Isère for six years. While working in the trail running world, I’ve always practiced road running and mountain running.

I was lucky enough to run the Sierre-Zinal race in Switzerland twice.

I’m passionate about running (trail, cross-country, mountain running, vertical running). Today, I’m a Technical Delegate for the French Athletics Federation, where I manage the trail, mountain running, vertical running, and cross-country disciplines. I’m in charge of organizing the French Championships for these four disciplines.

I’m an International Referee for the International Skyrunning Federation since 2018 and a French National Referee since 2020.

Apart from that, I work in a public high school as Deputy Principal, where I manage 35 people in the school.
